Research area
Our laboratory focuses on two major research areas: (1) service system research and (2) system design research, focusing on the major issue of "how to design a system that creates new value."
(1) Service system research
In service system research, we are researching the following four systems.
1. Research on product - service systems
Research on fields called manufacturing services and product - service systems.
In this laboratory, we are researching things (from raw materials to products) + service systems.
2. Research on Marketing systems
Marketing is a system research that makes customers recognize intangible value.
In our laboratory, we regard marketing as a system and research individual marketing theories and new methodologies.
3. Research on Supply chain systems
Logistics and supply chain are one of the service systems. Most of the research so far has been recognized as production activity, but that is because the word logistics has been used to describe production activity. If you think carefully, the value added by the logistics and supply chain is not physical value. So these are service systems.
In this laboratory, we will pursue a total service system that enables all stakeholders in the supply chain to recognize the value in terms of both function and sensitivity and to be satisfied.
4. Research on Operation systems
Management activities require a wide variety of operations. And, in fact, many management operations add value to things. For raw materials, products, and products, value will be added to the products that are completed in the production process such as "recruitment → inspection → manufacturing → complete warehouse". I think everyone has learned this way. Then, is there any added value other than production? That's not true. Non-production work has become a great added value of modern business.
Our laboratory considers the operation of a company as a service and pursues a service operation system that considers internal services within the company as well as interactive services to customers.
(2) System design research
In system design research, we are researching new theories and methodologies of functional design and kansei design.
1. Research on Function design
Many system design methods have been developed and used so far, but we are investigating function-centered design among them.
In this laboratory, we conduct research such as how to use various methods and techniques for designing systems centering on Work Design Method and function oriented method like VE ,QFD on application and utilization.
2. Research on Kansei design
Until now, research on sensibility itself, research to analyze sensibility, research to reflect kansei research analysis on design, etc. has been done, and the study of kansei engineering has also been born. However, much research has not been done on the theory and methodology of Kansei design for service systems.
In this laboratory, we are conducting research on overall optimization of service systems and kansei design that maximizes happiness of customers. This is a study of ways to provide value other than the functions that functional design cannot provide.
